Artists you like (to the surprise of others...)
Companion to the other thread...
I'm sure that most of the musical tastes of RM members would be surprising to the average person, but I mean things that really stand out, even to people who already know essentially what you listen to.
For me, most people take me for a metalhead given my appearance (( if they don't think they've actually seen me performing in a metal band somewhere! )) The fact that I listen to anything other than metal comes as a surprise.
Anyway, on here, people might be surprised to know that I love the first Korn record and just about everything SOAD's put out....and in response to one of the posts in the other thread, I think Stevie Wonder is a genius...at least his '70s output. I also like Bluegrass nearly as much as Jazz, despite it's severe underrepresentation in my collection in comparison.
I also have a weakness for pretty much all the shitty '70s arena rock bands that sound exactly alike, and for '90s commercial alternative pop/rock...yes, that means I actually still have and occasionally listen to albums from the likes of Dishwalla, The Verve Pipe, Better Than Ezra, Live, etc...
I stand without shame...it takes some pair of ears to have the Verve Pipe nearby Varese and Volcano The Bear.

Okay...can you loan me some of those Satchmo memory powers?
I essentially already made this exact post.
And as for Styx, yes. Still one of the few bands I've seen live.

Oh well, maybe the newbies will have some contributions to make.

I am actually somewhat impressed how you and Grasshoppa panbient are able to post almost the exact same posts after such long time periods.
You did come a long way since those days of post #71 in that thread.

Hey, I think I showed up here with fairly respectable tastes...they've evolved a bit but essentially the same.
And that list was a representation of my Top Artists list back in the early/mid '90s when I didn't have 'net access, there was only one record store anywhere near me, and all I had was FM radio.

I'd only feel the need to take off maybe 10 of those today, so it's not that bad.

And now that I've made a post about my mediocre feelings on Rush ( http://www.radiomute.com/422555-post18.html ), I find Rush in my Top 100 of 2003.
