I never have a good word for the eighties but there are some artists I really dig. Some people laugh about them:
Billy Idol (he was my introduction to being a bad ass when I was like 8 )
Devo (too crazy to dislike)
Sigue Sigue Sputnik (same reason as above)
Nena (99 luftballons was my introduction to slappin' bass I guess )

At the risk of alienating everyone on a board I just joined:
Poison. I grew up on them and still listen to them (often). I have no real excuse.
Given my dork-like appearance, I think it suprises people sometimes when I tell them I like Ice-T, Public Enemy and NWA.

They're actually not bad...my fiancee really likes them and plays their music all the time, so I've grown to liking them.
They're not revolutionary or anything, but they write good songs and they have a nice mellow style...good "chill out" music I guess.
There, does that make you feel better?

Mindless Self Indulgence.
I love this band. I listen to them constantly they're one of my favorite bands period.
I'm not a huge fan but I listen to mewithoutyou from time to time.
I listen to lots of random popular rap songs, especially stuff produced by the Neptunes and Timbaland.
I like some stuff by Hatebreed. I also like some shitty ska-punk like stuff from Assorted Jellybeans, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, some stuff by Leftover Crack and a few other bands. Leftover Crack is like a 4/10 for me but I love Choking Victim, I wouldn't consider Choking Victim a guilty pleasure though. I like some stupid EBM type stuff too on ocassion, I'm a huge fan of Wumpscut.

Most people seem surprised that I like Ride. I like a lot of shoegaze, in fact, but for some reason many people just don't see the relation. Actually Going Blank Again is one of my absolute favourite albums from the '90s.
