You never saw that before? I posted it and several others from that film in the Jazz listening to thread. That would be The James Gang performing....and Country Joe and the Fish were The Crackers.

There is a group now called Job Cain, which is made up of musicians from other bands that takes their name from Elvin's character. They're not worth bothering with.

No, I only said Roach played in a slick, smooth style that amplified the melodic nature of his sound; I didn't make the comment about the other drummers. No, I wouldn't necessarily suggest the same for all instruments as not all instruments require the player to pound upon them - in such a manner, things are rarely melodic. I don't remember saying anything about Bonham being less of a musician than the others, though I am certainly suggesting that he's overrated.

Indeed.

Yes, that was foolhardy and ambitious.

Just to clear my earlier point about Baker, I never made any reference to him being the best rock drummer - though he's likely my favourite - I was simply saying that his playing is more subtle than Bonham's and therefore more listenable; just like subtle humour is funnier than a fart joke. I should also point out that Cream is likely my favourite '60s rock band.

I'll take Mitchell or Moon over Baker or Bonham, personally...

...although I'd take Bruford, Giles, Vander, Yoshida, etc over them...

...and Jones, Ali, Roach, Graves, Drake, etc over all of them...

You're starting to get paranoid.

Speaking of which, am I a moron for liking Bill Ward as much as John Bonham?

Sure, he didn't get that massive up-front production style on record like Bonham, but he was still pretty awesome and perfect for Sabbath...

I guess this is the majority opinion on this forum now that the old timers are mostly under.

I cannot for the life of me get into Pink Floyd

Trust me I've tried, heard the music from roomates in college, even borrowed some from friends, just can't dig it
