Kurt Cobain is better than Robert Fripp? Wow. RS must really know something I don't.

Oh well, at least he made the list.

I remember when that issue came out, it was the first issue of Rolling Stone I ever bought. Even I, at the time, being as uneducated as I was in music, knew there was something fishy with some of those choices. However, looking back at some of the guitarists I wasn't familiar with at the time and knowing who they are now, I'm actually slightly impressed that Rolling Stone thought to include them (Kevin Shields, D. Boon, Robert Quine).

Now, I hate these lists, but I must say I dig the top five.

The rest is shite.

If I want answers regarding music. I don't go to Rolling Stone magazine for help.

Why is it every time Rolling Stone brings out a 'best of' list, I have the feeling I have to replace best by famous or cliché.

Link Wray on 67, and Kurt Cobain on 12???
Surprised Cliff Gallup made it though. He should be listed higher.

And where's Django?? It says best guitarists of all time. No genre specified.

Gotta make room for Stevie Ray. Where would music be without him?

You can pretty much stop after seeing Hammet and Cobain and 11 and 12. From there it's clear that this list has little basis in reality.

I'm surprised Rolling Stone know who D Boon even is, let alone put him on a top 100 guitarists list

They know who Ali Farka Toure is as well. I guess people like ol' Nic Moneypenny aren't the only ones that know how to use Google

I like about 20% of the guitarists on this list. The rest I could care less about, even though I don't believe the order has anything to do with how great the guitarists are. I mean they even put George Harrison above David Gilmour so the ranking can't be that serious. I wish they would let some of their readers nominate the guitarists. I think I should petition for this because we should have more say in these lists.
