That would be David Sanborn. He and Jools Holland had a late night show called Sunday Night, which was later re-named Michelob Presents Night Music aka Night Music. It was on from 1988 to 1990.

Initially the producers would not allow him to perform from the wheelchair....they didn't feel it was suitable for families too see him in the wheelchair....they wanted him in a regular chair....and he wouldn't perform that way.
