That would be Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandel playing Dueling Banjos. It's a cover of Feuding Banjos which was written by Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith and performed with Don Reno in 1955.

I read an article about CC in which he said that when a guitarist is a virtuoso, he can't enjoy a basic lead because everything has to be some sort of mental and physcial challenge to him.
