I just recently got back into Tool and now that I have read the lyrics I want to know what other people think about Tool's message and their wording. For example the song "Forty-Six & 2", these numbers are mentioned twice in the song and I can't figure out what they mean. Another one is the number "11", they say "one and one together are one". Help me people.

The Forty-Six & 2 title is taken from Drunvalo Melchizadek and Bob Frissell's theories.


To keep it simple....they believe Humans are on a journey towards "Christ Consciousness".


Humans normally have 46 Chromosomes. You get 23 Chromosomes from each parent. 44 of the 46 are Autosomes (non-sex Chromosomes) the remaining two are the ones which decide what sex we will be.


Anything above 46 is abnormal in a human.


Their theory is the next step to on this goofy trip is that humans are evolving towards 48 Chromosomes....aka 46 & 2 and the next step being 50 Chromosomes aka 48 & 2.



P.S. Chimpanzees and Gorillas have 48 Chromosomes....meaning we apparently are going to devolve on this journey.


P.P.S. Klinefelter syndrome is the most common chromosomal abnormality. With most of them having 47 Chromosomes, but there're those that will have 48, 49 and even fewer with as high as 50. All the extra Chromosomes will be X's.

There is also the whole issue of 67% of the world who don't happen to be Christian....but that's another discussion.




Now the lyrics are based on Jungian psychology. In this case his theories about Shadow Aspect, Anima (males), and Animus (females).

I myself right now am in a confusing place with my beliefs and for some reason with age it seems I pay more attention to things, hence my interest in the Tool lyrics. Before you ask if Die Eier Von Satan is some pro-Nazi song....Depending on if you want to use the original meaning of Eier or it's slang meaning....it can be translated as The Eggs of Satan or The Balls of Satan.


Anyhoo, it's a cookie recipe which doesn't use eggs. However, eggs are important in the the Pesach Seder. A Beitzah aka hard-boiled egg is one of the 6 foods on the Seder plate....so there being no eggs in the recipe for the cookie can have a double meaning in relation to what the "song" is really supposed to be about.

A cookie recipe, that's a trip. Just the other day I got rid a Slipknot cd after looking further into the lyrics and after watching one of the concerts on video, like I said I'm not sure where my religious beliefs are but I choose not to listen to someone who's message is is so nasty. I think with your help I have decided that Tool is still alright, and besides, their music is so good I didn't want to give it up anyway.
