Weird Music

I have a rather unique problem, or rather a unique perk related to my mp3 player. When I pull out the head phones a quarter of the way out I get weird music. I am aware that it is common to get muffled but normal music from your headphones when you pull them part way out but this is different. It completely cuts out certain sounds (often the lyrics) and gives a cool digital sound to certain beats (cymbals, drums, and others). I love this weird music but not my mp3 player. I have been unable to find what this distortion is called or another player that can reproduce it consistently. I NEED HELP! I would be happy to accept any info related to what this weird music is called, mp3 player/headphone mods to achieve this music, or better yet the name of an mp3 player that can do this as well.

I have a Rio Forge Sport (256mb).

I have had three of these defective bad boys and I could get weird music from them all.

I have tried and achieved this weird music on all five of my different headphones/ear buds as well as my computer when I recorded the tracks.

I can not get this sound from I-pods, Zunes, and some of the stuff Sandisk makes

Once in a blue moon I could get this music from the various Sony Walkmans I have owned but it was always by pulling on the wire accidentally and if I tapped the wire it would go away.

I can pull out my wire part-ways and get this music with a 100% success rate with my Forge and easily get normal music if I push it back in.

The music I get is much more quiet than normal but when I turn up the volume all the way I can listen comfortably.

Please help me with this. I will be happy to answer any more questions you may have.

Oh, it's nothing at all : it's a simple problem of phase, due to a wrong electric contact. You can get the same sound by mixing channels in Sound Forge, for example (there's a preset, I think it's "use difference between channels"). Some sounds disappear because they're electrically substracted.
