Any Suggestions...?
I haven't been much "in" to the current events of the American music world... when i was younger I guess I just didn't get into any American artists. Until I discovered Jpop (Japanese pop) which is what I mostly listen to now. But more recently I've gotten into stuff like My Chemical Romance... and I've been wanting to check out more music like theirs... only... I have no idea where to look. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for some good music? I prefer Alternative, and rock.. but I'm not much in to rap. I also like pop too.
Listened to Nami Tamaki with Heart & Soul

from everything i've had to hear by MCR i think it's safe to say they're really trying hard to be the smashing pumpkins for another generation without having any of corgan's intellect (but they definitely have the ego).
i mean seriously the frontman is parading himself around as some sort of cancer survivor because he dyed his hair white. last time i checked chemo therapy didn't just give you white hair and incorporating a glamorized cancer into your stage act is just wrong on so many levels.

For some good music, I would steer towards the current indie pop that has been surfacing these days. I myself mainly listen to punk and ska, but I am well aware that it is not widely accepted by the masses. For good music, aim towards
Augustana
Arctic Monkeys
Fall Out Boy (People will talk alot of shit about them, but if you like my chemical romance you should like fall out boy)
The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Three Days Grace
Now if you want some ska. Look at
Streetlight Manifesto- More serious.
Big D and the Kids Table/Mustard Plug/Reel Big Fish- More fun.
Hope this helps!

Not that you would be surprised, but since I don't bother with groups like them aka generic watered down wannabes with barely any musical talent....I have no idea WTF? you're talking about.
As best I can make out from your post....you're saying the lead singer who doesn't have Cancer and never had Cancer is going for a Cancer chic look a la the stupidity of Heroin chic from the mid-90's?

I am somewhat curious....just how does RHCP even get mentioned in this list?

I can't help you with anything My Chemical Romance related....but if you want good music that is another story.

I have a very diverse taste in music, i thought of RHCP because my band recently covered snow at a recent gig.

that's pretty much what i've gathered from random press snippets i've seen in magazines. as dumb as the heroin chic look was at least most of them had most of the elements in place. i think what the MCR frontman is shooting for is basically the lead role of his own concept album about the emo trauma a cancer survivor might go through if you never researched the disease. how dying your hair white and wearing michael jackson's old outfits = surviving cancer is beyond my limited mental capacity.

I guess he has never seen or known anyone who actually went through Chemo. Forget it being white....they would just be happy to still have their hair.
That's if the Chemo itself doesn't kill them quicker than the Cancer.

in music, i'd say one would either, like a song, hate it, or think it's ok. but generally, i'd suggest you just poke around, listen to various radio stations, and such and you'll just eventually find what kind of stuff you're looking for.
in reply to kenneth's post...some bands/music that is "good" to your taste may not be "good" for other's. two people may both like "rock"/"alternative" but i dont think that would necessarily mean both would like the same stuff.
[but i'm a big fan of augustana]
