Chris Cornell's album

Has anyone checked out Chris Cornell's new album, Carry On? I love it and can't get enough of it! I was a little unsure at first, but it keeps getting better the more I listen to it. It's definitely not the hard rock style from Soundgarden and Audioslave, but it shows his maturity and his voice is still amazing. It seems to get better with time. And the fact that he writes all the lyrics and music, and sings all the vocals (including background) is pretty impressive.

it's a sad truth and not just specific to cornell. i lost hope in CC the first time i heard audioslave.

i'm not sure how the fact that he writes his own music is that impressive especially in this stage of his career. it's not like he wasn't the main creative force in soundgarden. nor did he ever shy away from telling aspiring musicians how to maintain artistic control over their music or lyrics.

Is worth of hearing any of Chris Cornell at all? even with the Soundgarden era?

yeah i still think soundgarden is worth listening to if you still enjoy 90s rock. i just had a superunkown track (like suicide) play a few tunes ago. still kicked ass. cornell's solo career proves that the band chemistry is really what made soundgarden special. sure he was the main creative force but the rest of the band still had input and created some great music.

there's also the issue of some throat surgery he had after soundgarden broke up which could have limited what he was capable of pulling off and pushing him to explore different directions.

I liked Audioslave. And the singles soundtrack had a Cornell song 'Seasons'. I kinda liked that too.

yeah because taking a funk classic and converting it to a generic acoustic ballad slapped over a waltz beat = masterpiece...

i see your cover of billie jean and raise you a mind riot.

I am glad CD's don't actually replace themsevles with updated content after a few years. Imagine being a fan of old Soundgarden and putting in a Louder Than Love CD, then hearing new CC instead

I mention this because I had a dream I put in Led Zeppelin 3 and The Firm started playing instead

MJ's version of "Billie Jean" FTW...unless he covers "Big Dumb Sex" or "Jesus Christ Pose," as I once reocmmended
