Chris de Burgh wrote a beautiful Christmas song, " A Spaceman Came Traveling ", found on his "Spanish Trains ..." album. The original version on the original LP sounds great with a fine arrangement. The version that I got with my "Lady in Red" compilation is different and so much weaker.
Worked in top forty radio when this was a hit. I kind of liked it at first then it quickly lost it's appeal. Hearing it come up in rotation every three to four hours sort of makes me want to never hear it again after the first few days.
Over all I'd say it's an okay song - my personal loathing aside. I'm with stakeraiser and Syd on Ferryman.

I dunno. Thinking back on his entire catalogue, not just the '80s (Freedom Fries, 'Spanish Train' is from '75), I really think 'Lady in Red' is his magnum opus, his most listenable song. Too bad for him, I guess, because it too is rather pale.
