I'm sure it gets way hotter than that in some places where people around here live, and it gets hotter than that here, too, but not usually til the middle of the summer, and especially not when I was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans to school just a week earlier. I guess this means it's gonna get pretty nasty by the time July hits. Global warming, yikes.

yeah we didn't have much of a spring either (went from 3 feet of icy snow banks to green grass in just over a week). although there's still a frost warning going on tonight. but when you're standing on the coast (you could see the ocean from inside the venue) and getting pummeled with gale force winds and the temperature is just a few degrees above freezing it's MOTHEREFFING COLD! hehehehe

I admit to only owning the first release, which I enjoy quite a bit, even though I can't help but get something of an STP vibe from them occasionally.

That said, I wonder which album those of you with their entire discography think would get a good second purchase. Should I just go in order?

Rated R is by far their best album.

everyone i know who has the full catalog of QOTSA discs has a different favourite album.

'R' is definitely one of their top albums, the sophomore slump does not apply to the queens. the album is quite diverse in both mood and style.

'songs for the deaf' is more anthemic and straight ahead.

'lullabies to paralyze' is much darker than the other releases, it has a few great tracks like 'someone's in the wolf' and 'the blood is love' but overall it's probably my least favourite release.

if i had to buy all the discs again i'd go with this order

era vulgaris
r
self titled (if i could ever find it for sale on a shelf)
songs for the deaf
lullabies to paralyze
