For What It's Worth
Is probably one of the best songs ever recorded.

It's a great song (inf act, I was listening to it on the radio this morning), but I don't think it's even my favorite song by Buffalo Springfield, which would probably be Broken Arrow or Mr. Soul (I haven't really actively listened to them in the first place, though). He Got Game is a hella cool use of that song as a sample.

It really is a great tune. And one known by many (due to its radio play over the last 35+ years).
But, like jazzfromhell, it is not my favorite Buffalo Springfield song.
Perhaps what puts the song on such a high level is the combination of great melody with timeless political lyrics (they describe an exact event, but the mood of the lyrics seem to fit with every young generation).
Really a great tune

I don't know about one of the best songs ever recorded, but it is quite good. I prefer "Rock and Roll Woman" myself, but that's the beauty of Buffalo Springfield...there was always something for everyone.

It's a nice song, but I prefer the earlier Cardigans material. Heh.

I've always liked the song a lot. It does have a strangely timeless quality about it. One doesn't necessarily hear it and suddenly think, "Oh yeah, that's one of those late 60s radical things." I think part of the reason is because the song has such a country/western vibe happening in the arrangement and the vocals.
