Low: that Sparhawk & Parker & Sally/Livingstone thing

There is no Low thread? Or maybe I can't find it, because their short band name. Therefore I made this one a bit longer.

Anyway, I really liked the sequence of albums of Secret Name, Things We Lost in the Fire and Trust, but then they lost me a bit with The Great Destroyer. Still, I was rather intruiged that I got to see them somewhere in the winter this year. The concert alas, was again some kind of letdown. They played mostly songs from their upcoming album Drums & Guns, unheard stuff thus and well I don't think they played their best gig ever... They didn't want to play "Two-Step", because they did so all the time... yet I would have loved to hear it.

Anyway, I finally checked the new album out and I'm liking it after all. It comes with a nice booklet consisting of pictures of... drums & guns... "Violent Past" is superb!

I saw them last week at Primavera and I was so bored, I think I counted a total of three songs I enjoyed. It was mostly stuff off Drums and Guns, which I had heard beforehand, and didn't really enjoy it.

But they played just after Modest Mouse and before Built to Spill so my mind was elsewhere.

Hehe I can imagine how they could bore people. I guess the cd takes some getting used to.

I do like the song oh sandinista, I think the others I enjoyed were off older albums.

Part of the reason I don't think I liked their set is because they were immediately after a headlining band which I really enjoy. I think if they had had an earlier slot I would have enjoyed it more.

Its nice sounding music but in the end I'll never be that big a fan.

That's sad to hear. I saw them about 4 years ago and they played all old stuff. The crowd was silent as they played. It was rather beautiful.
