Yes I find myself so lost classifying the genre.
I'd suggest that Slint record Spiderland. Not to be the asshole that never stops talking about the concert he just went to, but hearing it live turned me on to it. But you should at least try it out because of its influence.
Some bands I really like in the genre are Stereolab and Mogwai. I think Emperor Tomato Ketchup is the place to start with Stereolab and Young Team for Mogwai (Mogwai Fear Satan is one of my favorite tracks by them).
Battles I just got into, again seeing them live turned me on, and you should for sure check out their album Mirrored. The track Atlas I can't stop playing.
I don't know if they are post rock but I guess it could be, the Benvento/Russo duo is really cool and I enjoy them a lot.
I think Godspeed is OK, I'm so hit or miss when it comes to post rock.
