Is this just about gothmetal? Or not? I don't know how far you can go in calling it goth, but they surely had some influences and I (used to) dig them. Old bands like: Sisters of Mercy, Cramps, Christian Death, ...

Also the first wave they called gothmetal like early Paradise Lost, Babylon Sad, even early My dying bride maybe, are quite ok. It's just the whole fucking carnival act that makes it ridiculous. See punk for same disease.

the dressing up isn't my cup of tea either. Bauhaus rocks, though.

It's mostly the people, goths. They are lame yet think they are super-interesting.

So does every subculture in society/music.


At least 'real' goths end up killing themselves. Damn hippies just keep on livin'...
