Your favorite old-timey rock and/or rollers...

...of the fifties/early sixties era.

Here's a few cool vids:

The Tielman Brothers - http://youtube.com/watch?v=YvC2_nsVJv0

Johnny Burnette Trio - http://youtube.com/watch?v=pXeWfrhnksk

Little Richard - http://youtube.com/watch?v=eamEz6oTa6k

Jerry Lee Lewis (what a madman) - http://youtube.com/watch?v=8yRdDnrB5...elated&search=

I'm gonna like you. Favorite old time rock and rollers you say?

I like all of them. Fifties rock and roll / rockabilly is my fetish!

The famous ones: Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley,...

But here are the ones you REALLY have to check out:
Derry Weaver
Charlie Rich > Recommandation: The Sun Years 1958-1962
Charlie Feathers > My absolute favorite. I can recommend the album "JUNGLE FEVER" for starters.

Also if you're gonna check out Gene Vincent, be sure to have the very old stuff, with original Blue Caps. Listen carefully to the guitarplaying of Cliff Gallup, an underestimated genius.

I even like the pussy-artists from the 50's and 60's. Paul Anka, Del Shannon, .. You can even catch me singin along to Fabian every now and then.

It is a charming name for the thread isn't it?

My favorites are obvious ones like ELVIS, BILL HALEY, CHUCK BERRY, EDDIE COCHRAN, ROY ORBISON, and a few less-obvious ones like RONNIE DEE and SCREAMIN JAY HAWKINS ("Frenzy" is a must-have!)

I could have made some sarcastic comment about the title, but you already covered it.

Good to see at least one person mentioning these greats! Not sure how they're not mentioned in the first two posts.

Besides those mentioned....

Ray Charles
Bo Diddley
Buddy Holly
Fats Domino
Carl Perkins
The Everely Brothers
Sonny Burgess

P.S. In regards to the comment in the Little Richard video....that is nowhere near DA MAN at his wildest! For him that's actually mellow.

P.P.S. It's interesting seeing one of the dancers doing an early version of the robot (about 2:03 into the video) and than the same person later voguing (about 2:39 into it).

After reading a bit this guy sounds pretty good, I think I'll look out for this.

That's as pure a 'punk' song as you'll ever hear.

Bill Haley and His Comets playing a song everyone should know by heart. When listening to Danny Cedrone lay down one of the most famous guitar solos in rock history, keep in mind he was only paid $21 for that entire sessions work. Only 66 days after recording the solo, he would be dead as a result of falling down a staircase and breaking his neck. He may or may not have had a heart attack that causes the fall.

The guitar player in this video is Franny Beecher and like many times before and after they would lip lip-synch to the original recording.
