I like them equally. The only reason I would pick Zappa, is because there were so many more recordings by him than DA CAPTAIN.

Sorry about not doing a poll, didn't know how. Is it still possible to do it now?

Never been intersted in starting polls....hell, I barely start threads and that's only to drop useful knowledge. Try clicking on the edit post and then Go Advanced and see if it allows you to add in a poll

i'm pretty sure satchmo is right on edit and then going advanced. it's not a huge deal, i'm not mod in this section so i can't mess around with it until it works but tanjello would also have access.

Didn't find any choice for the poll, thanks anyway.
By the way I do prefer Beefheart, even though they both were artists that made music for your mind and not your heart, Zappa's music was more rational, and Van Vliet's music came more from the instinct. Anyhow they both did something really truly original and full of creativeness.

I'm a big fan of both musicians' work, however I find myself enjoying Zappa more often than Beefheart. It's the intricacies of Zappa's work that draw me back to his albums again and again.

Frank Zappa, easy. I love the Captain, but Zappa's music is just much more enjoyable to me (although all I've heard by Beefheart is the wonderful Trout Mask Replica, so I should branch out some more), and like Satchmo said there's a lot more of it.
