But yeah Satchmo/panbient wrapped it up nicely (that first list Satchmo gave you is a great outline to rock). I was similar to you when I first came to this forum but a little older. I wasn't exclusive to the poppy stuff you are listing but it was what I listened to the most. After being ripped a new asshole by Tanjello and Camilojoe I decided to branch out more and asked for some album advice based off things I enjoyed.
One day you will turn on an album and realize it all sounds the same, why do you think there is nobody over 20 when you go to a show? All the fans grow up and I bet you will too.
I do admit that I went to one of the Texas is the Reason reuniting shows in November, and enjoyed it. You should pick up their album "Do You Know Who You Are?" if you have never heard of them since that is a keystone album with what you are listening too.
It might not be the biggest branch into new music but its something.

Also add in the Lowest Common Denominator factor.
You want real good music....here are musicians/ groups in several sub-genres of Rock that should keep you busy for a bit.

Well to be 100% honest, i dont listen to the radio or watch MTV cause idotn have cable lol. The music i listeni to is stuff i hear of people i know, so i guess it ocmes through there. but i dont listen to music because the internet tells me its good, i listen to it if i can relate to it or if i like the way it sounds. for example, i listen to something corporate cause i play piano and iwas excited to see a piano band. i listen to yellowcard cuase i love violin. blink 182 my brother showed me one day and i liked their retarted lyrics. and i really liked their sound in their last album. +44 becasue of blink 182. and Mae? i lke the for piano too. but i dont think they are on the radio? NFG, well my brother bought their cd cause i gues she heard it of mtv or somethin but hes like listen to it and youll like it and iwas liek 11 at the time so i did. and i liked. But i will take a look at these other bands you guys are suggesting, just some bands i dont like because they have meaningless lyrics, and some lyrics that i cant relate to, so it doesnt entertain me?? and i seem to be attracted to melodic music so bands that dont much good melody kind of bores me....
but yeah i really like that Hamburger analogy.
it is very true. i just quit my band because it was going to poppy sound. and i am tryin to build a new band with somethin more "real" i guess you would call it?? not something you would hear on G105 (if you live inthe triangle area) or any big radio station. but yeah that analogy makes me hungry too.

1. You want musicians and/or bands with keyboard and/or piano and with melody.
Old School
Ray Charles
Jerry Lee Lewis
Little Richard
Fats Domino
Yes
Emerson, Lake and Palmer
Genesis (Peter Gabriel Era!!!!)
Traffic
Spencer Davis Group
The Doors
Deep Purple
The Band
Allman Brothers w/ Duane Allman
Pink Floyd
Grateful Dead
Small Faces
Faces
Elton John (Jump the Shark after Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy)
Gentle Giant
Caravan
The Moody Blues
Procol Harum
Billy Preston
Nicky Hopkins - can be found on countless classic recordings.
Steve Winwood (he's was a member of Spencer Davis Group and Traffic. He was 15 when he joined the first.)
There are others....but that's a good start. Of course, the vast majority of the best piano players are not in Rock.
2. The last thing McDonalds does is make me hungry. Nauseated on the other hand....

Please do check out some of the other bands since it seems like you have come here looking for suggestions before but your still listening to the same stuff:
http://www.radiomute.com/25710-whats...punk-band.html
http://www.radiomute.com/25630-what-...ever-made.html
http://www.radiomute.com/25629-whats...ite-bands.html
I feel like pop can get a bad name just because there is lots of bad pop and its easily accessible. Some of my favorite music is pop and it is just as creditable as any other music. But I think there is more to your leaving that band then that. If you want something more real then listen to music that is more real.
I think you bringing up the inability to relate is a great point, that is what music is all about for your age group. But being able to appreciate lyrics that aren't so straightforward adds a certain quality to a singer. Not to say straightforwardness is always bad.
I also think your lying to yourself if you think you like Yellowcard because they have a violin or Something Corporate because there is a Piano, its all about their song writing. Its very to the point and holds you there with relateable lyrics and tired, familiar, gimmicks.
Satchmo's lists can be overwhelming so if you want some help with bands I'd think you'd like, I'm familiar with all the bands your listing, I'd be happy to help.
