I prefer my funk uncut,
aside from an awesome underground scene the west coast fell off in the 2000s, all you've got is the game and he sucks.

ok,
good for you. this is exactly what I DIDN'T ask for. I asked if anyone enjoyed west coast. I didn't ask if anyone didn't like it.
Don't hate. I got lots of love for other types of music, including other types of hip hop. Just lookin for other people out here that have a similar mindset is all.
Just wait till Detox drops - westcoast'll be back.
Game is tight. Snoop's last album was legit - very musical. Ice Cube's last album was tight. Quik has been producing all over the place. But, you're right - there hasn't been much happening like back in the ninties and early 2000's. Which is a shame IMO.

Sorry man don't wanna come off the wrong way. Shit, I'm just happy you came back to reply since the rap section has seen better days.
Anyhow, I love the west coast. A lot of my rap favorites are from there. Dre is the man, Snoop is cool too but his newer stuff is kinda hit or miss. The Blue Carpet treatment had some alright songs on it but nothing I couldn't live with out. I love quik too, his production is on point.
I guess you can agree with me on first post that the west is kinda dead compared to what it was. The Game is the biggest name to emerge in the 2000s and some people do like him but I could never get into him (I've heard his first album all the way through at least 20 times thanks to an old roommate so I've given him more then enough of a chance).
I know detox will be great but I couldn't honestly say I think it would be out by the end of this year, Dre has been pushing this back forever.
So yeah when you think about what the south and some of the east have been putting out lately the west is slacking.
But that underground scene is still awesome. I mean theres Madlib, Heiroglyphics, Del the funky homosapien, People Under the Stairs, Jurassic 5 is pretty mainstream but whatevr, and those are just off the top of my head.

The Luniz "I Got 5 On It" was one of the smoothest tracks ever! DJ Quik, The Pharcyde, Da Lench Mob, and Souls of Mischief would be my favorite west coast artist/groups.

I feel you. The south has been pumpin hit after hit and the east has always had a steady following. The west has slowed down. And I can see how someone couldn't get into Game. He's, by no means the best rapper out the west in a while.
But,
You heard Devin the Dude - he's from the south and his sound is total west coast, warren G-esque slow rolling G-Funk. And there is a lot of funky, west coast inspired stuff like that out the south.
but - the west needs another 5 heavy hitters. For sure. I just vy for it because I think there is a real lack of musicianship in the hip hop game right now, and that west coast G-Funk was very musical. feel me?
when you get a chance check out my stuff on myspace homie - and let me know what you think

thanks
Adelia - that's whats up dude

How could I forget the Pharcyde!
93 til' Infinity is a personal favorite and the track of the same name is probably a top five rap track for me.
Of course I've heard of Devin, on the Chronic 2001 was the first time. I have his new album around somewhere and should give it a listen, I like his flow.
I do agree about g-funk, it was some nice production and a great idea.
But like I said in my first post, I'm more into just straight up funk.
