i don't think they actually sampled anyone else on that track even the album was light on samples considering what it sounded like. that first disc featured a collective of montreal musicians and would often sample itself throughout. the only track on the disc that would have significant samples from what i remember would be the very first one.
unfortunately i can't find my copy of that first bran van 3000 disc. they do rip on some of the melody's from snoop dogg's 'gin and juice' at one point during drinking in LA... 'with my mind on my money. and my money on my... beer BEER!' (they are canadian after all
). but the soul singer and the guitars are all live. not sure what else you're thinking about in terms of a background sample.
