New albums (just released or just discovered)
What are some thoughts on some new albums you've just listened to? New releases are favored but it could be something you've just listened to for the first time regardless of its release date.
Please post your thoughts and not just the name, how can we discuss without that!
Mos Def - Tru3 Magic
Sounds like he is trying to break out of the rap underground but it just doesn't work. The beats sound like club track wannabes but just don't have the appeal. His flow is even worse, sounds like he is mumbling through half the verses.

I heard Mos Def has a new record but I haven't heard anything from it and it really came from nowhere to hear it was out.
It's not new but I've been listening to E-40's latest record "My Ghetto Report Card" besides just the singles. The beats were a lot better than I expected and his punchlines are hilarious too me. The album has a "don't call it a comeback" feel to me since E-40 has been out something like 10 years now but it's the freshest thing I've ever heard from him. Not sure if he gets all the credit he deserves on the West Coast considering this is better than anything I've heard from Snoop Dogg in years. I plan on checking some of his early stuff soon to se what I've missed.

Yeah looking to Snoop Dogg for new material isn't really a good idea. I do like the track Crazy off his new album but thats about it.
I've never heard any E-40 solo stuff, I always thought he wasn't too bad though.
Timbaland - Shockvalue
His new album. I couldn't wait and had pretty high expectations for it. I was really let down by the first half since it showed no progress and some of the beats sounded the exact same as stuff off Justin Timberlakes latest. Timbaland's verses were even worse, his ego is out of control and he sucks at rapping. But the second half of the album was a good listen, ideas were fresh for beats and the songs were well done in general.
Redman - Gone Wild
First couple of tracks suck and the rest are awesome. Its really directed at the clubs but its still good cause Redman is still excellent at the mic.

I really don't like it after a couple more listens. There are some OK tracks but they are barely tolerable. His rapping is so terrible though, lyrically it is a true failure even with all the guests.

I'd never heard of Dalek before but after reading a bit on them sounds like something I would enjoy.

He puts on a weird show. I feel like he spends half the time ranting and raving and talking about killing cops. Not that thats bad necessarily, just be preparred to get a short set.
