Help On Begginning

Well, I've been a long time listener to the Techno/Trance/Electronic genres and I have searched high and low both on and off the web for good software and other stuff to help in the compilations of such categories of music...

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction of websites etc. on how to get a good begginner setup?

If you could I would greatly appreciate it...

i would recommend that you get turntables, cause just getting software isnt going to give you as much freedom, and its sort of a cop out.

but if you were to go that way, just pirate SoundForge. its probably the most accessible and it relates to most music principals.

TurnTables.....lolol! Chopsticks or a Fork??? First of all, SoundForge is an editor, you can't make music with it but it is an important tool that you will need. AcidPro, Cubase, Cakewalk..ect...these are multi sequencers studio programs that you will need. Basically you could draw/paint down the tracks you want to mix, add effects ect. You could also try FL4 studio producer (aka Fruityloops). This program in my opinion would be best for you, and also "reason" would do the job.
If you just want to spin a few tracks in the DJ mode, try "Traktor" by Native Instruments. It's pretty straight forward. All you need is a collection of samples and loops and you're on your way.
Out of all respect, turntables are for show....Paul Oakenfold might have a pair in front of him but he's really running a couple of laptops and software, and an occassional disc rub for show! Maybe RUN DMC might get offended, but hey...they're washed up!
