The Definitive 200?

Yet another one of those lists put together by mental midgets that make you go WTF?

I was going to say this looks looks like standard fare for a top albums list, but then yeah, they do slip a handful in there that really seem random.

Quote:
SHANIA TWAIN – COME ON OVER
NORAH JONES – COME AWAY WITH ME
SOUNDTRACK – SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND – CRASH
50 CENT – GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN’
LINKIN PARK – HYBRID THEORY
MATCHBOX TWENTY – YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS – CALIFORNICATION
CREED – HUMAN CLAY
SOUNDTRACK – TITANIC
CHRISTINA AGUILERA – CHRISTINA AGUILERA
AVRIL LAVIGNE – LET GO

Oh, these will really stand the test of time.

Of course it's always fun to pick these apart and see which terrible album they deem better than a classic. That's right, Avril Lavigne's Let Go is now officially more popular and influential than Bob Dylan's Bring It All Back Home.

You know, this just might be the most embarrassing list of this kind that I have seen....and I have seen a few in my almost 107-years.

Keep in mind this was put together by NARM

aka

National Association of Recording Merchandisers

aka

Record sales matter, BABY!

P.S. This list once again proves how oxmoronic a Rock 'N Roll HOF happens to be. Pay them enough money and they would have 200 recordings of porn stars moaning as their definitive list.

I saw the Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain and my brain went into immediate protect the neurons mode....I skimmed most of the rest. I have been told that that well known landmark recording for the soundtrack of Top Gun made the list.

when i saw shania twain ranked 2 notches above stevie wonder's songs in the key of life i didn't want to keep looking but i wanted to see just how bad it could get. then i saw miles davis' kind of blue sandwiched between the dixie chicks and the eagles and had to close the page. i don't even like kind of blue that much but i still know it should never EVER be in a list with the dixie chicks and the eagles. i fucking hate the eagles.

It's my personal belief that Jim Colyer and/or Matthew Gill hacked the site.

At least that is the story I am going with....it's hard to believe any sapient humans would put together a list that embarrassing and post it on the HOF site.

Not that anyone needs the notice, but the jury should be in once you get to #13 and see that not only is a Santana album considered top 15 rock album material, but that that album happening to be Supernatural, aka the Big Sellout.

Wow this is terrible. I'd really like to see how they went through the process of putting this together.
