noise cancellation headphones?

okay, not down with Sony right now, not at all. I bought and returned a pair of their noise cancellation headphones. Seriously sounded disgusting... digital artifacting... yuk. I thought I must be using it wrong (I was an audio engineer for 5 years, yet still I thought Sony must be right and I must be wrong) but upon further investigation, no, they are just a piece of crap and I guess that big name companies like that are not where to turn for my noise reduction needs. I’ve been looking into Bose, but can’t really afford what they have to offer. Another company I checked out is Otto, anyone heard of them? Here are the headphones I’m looking at: http://www.hearotto.com/Products_OT5.aspx specs look good to me, I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with these?

Try brands like Sennheiser(which should be cheaper than Bose at least). www.cnet.com is a somewhat reliable site for these things.

I'll look into Sennheiser. Hate buying German, though. Thanks for the resource. Ooooo.... I just looked up Sennheiser and they're going for $130.... not cheap enough for me. That's why I was excited to see the OTTO product, looks no nonsense and like it would work, but maybe you just can't get good noise cancellation without paying for it.

An excellent source and usually at the best prices.

Hey you know what you should contact the Navy. The guys on the aircraft carriers have probably the best noise reduction headphones on the planet.

Yeah, but I bet they aren't cheap. I ended up just going with the Otto headphones, which sound much better than those Sony ones, very good, actually, but I haven't tested them against high noise environments yet. These were originally designed for racecar drivers and EMT's, so they got the technology down.

Racecar drivers? Then they must be damn good! There's alot of noise to be filtered out at a speedway.

Yeah, they are pretty good, actually, I went on a walk and tested them in a bunch of environments. No complaints. They also look a lot better than I thought they would, I wish Otto would put photos of their product on the website.

Figured I'd pass this on, OTTO just sent me a promo code, FREESHIP, good for 10% off either their bluetooth car kit: www.hearotto.com/Products_OT2.aspx or their mp3 player headset: www.hearotto.com/Products_OT3.aspx and also free shipping.

Hey this is a way to make your own really easily for like $20, http://www.metacafe.com/watch/548578...ating_headset/ simple as that.... though they aren't as good as the ones I have. Wish I'd seen this before I bought a pair, though I'm pretty happy with the ones I got (anyone seen this: http://www.wehatetrendystuff.com/?)
