I apologize, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on a few of these albums. I don't really associate Bryan Adams, Nena, Roxette, or Berlin with "Rock" music. I've always placed them in the category of "crappy 80s pop", or crappy 80s pop-rock in Bryan Adams' case, since he did play guitar and made a few valiant attempts at "rocking" (eg. "Cuts Like A Knife", "Kids Wanna Rock", "Summer of 69").
Instead of Pump, I would reccomend Toys In The Attic or Rocks to people who want to get into Aerosmith. Their material from the 80s onward seems very artificial and manufactured to me. Like they are purposely trying to sell a million records without even wondering for a second if the music is actually good or not. They fell into a formula in the 80s that they repeated on every album through the 90s and into the early 2000s.
Personally, I think the 80s were a really bad time for rock music. While Hair Metal was ruling America and the world, a lot of great bands were being ignored. Although not as "accessible" as Poison or Bon Jovi, bands like The Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure, The Pixies, and Sonic Youth were SOOOOOO much better. That's just my 2 cents. If you wanna respond, go right ahead.
