Releases to watch out for in 2007

I just noitced that Air and Arcade Fire(couple of bands that seem highly regarded in general but I like only in passing) have got albums released.

What other releases coming up this year that you are waiting for?

the new air disc is even weaker than talkie walkie (which i considered a re-hash of moon safari) but pocket symphony doesn't even try to expand on TW. meh at best. i guess it's decent for some background music, which can be said for most of their discs. the great thing about their older discs is that they offered a lot more if you took a closer listen than just background music but this new one seems to fall flat all over the place. and the guest vocalist doing his best anglophone serge gainsbourg on two tracks just sucks ass.

i remember when zero 7 first came out a few years ago and i called them a weak UK clone of Air (shit they practically lifted the bass line from 'la femme d'argent' on their debut disc) but at this point i say the most recent Air disc falls WAY short of zero 7's last offering (the garden).

as for the rest of the year.

amon tobin has a new one coming out soon that i'm really looking forward to. josh had good things to say about it in the electronic forum.

tomahawk is supposed to release something later this year, same with the melvins and the queens of the stone age. not sure about the others but the new QOTSA is supposed to be out in june.

I think we're supposed to get new Nine Inch Nails this year, as well as new Wu-Tang and some sort of sequel by Raekwon to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.

I'm already preparing myself for the let down that the new NIN will probably be. When did Trent lose it?

I'm actually looking forward to the new QOTSA. Apparently everyone and their mother is on it including Julian frome the strokes, trent reznor, mark lanegan, and billy gibbons fro, zz top.

Personally I can't wait for Radioheads new LP. I heard some of the new material live and it sounds really good, better then hail to the thief at least.

Broken Social Scene is another one.

So many have already been released so its been a great year so far.

i don't think it's so much that he's lost it as much as you've grown past high school.

I don't think thats it. I still really like Pretty Hate Machine alot and think Downward Spiral is the best produced cd ever. I thought With Teeth had 2, maybe 3 decent songs and the rest was meh. I've heard 2 of the new songs and they were really bad. I don't think you can argue that the quality control that Trent used to put into his work is still there.

That, and Reznor has given up his addictions. Amazingly, he's also no longer depressed.
