Just wondering what your thoughts are on the new stuff from NIN. They released a new single which in my opinion is good, however, I was under the impression that they would move away from the style they used in their previous album... Would have been cool to hear a little more experimental stuff don't you think?

Its not bad, but I'm really not much of a fan of later NIN.

The marketing for it is very interesting though, apparently there is a whole trail of websites which tell the story of the concept of the album:

http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1552...ch_nails.jhtml

Another blog telling more and giving lots of links:

http://digg.com/music/Nine_Inch_Nail...rom_The_Future

The track itself was apparently found on a flash drive which was on the floor of a bathroom at one of their shows. Can read about that alleged rumor and find a link to the track here:

The spectrograph image of the song,

Interesting marketing campagian, OK song, but its all about a story that has been told so many times before.

Well it's definitely catchy, and will sound good in a car stereo. Seems a throwback to the Pretty Hate machine days. It's not too bad.

Reznor gets further and further away from his landmark Downward Spiral album with each passing year, and I guess this later material is just to let us know that he once had some great material that we should all check out when we have time. I really like the three CD's I have by NIN, and all of them are about 13 years old or more.

I've never been a NIN fan. I don't know if I just haven't heard the right stuff, or if the people I went to high school worshipping Reznor like a god that turned me off. I respect him as an artist I just preferred my anger uncut. I.e. Pantera.

A dystopian civilization in the throes of extinction. A government poisoning its own citizens through the drinking water. Military police raiding private residences. The end of civil liberties. The creation of a Church-State. Mind control.

Oh, God...

Still marketing his music to high school students I see.

You say that about all the bands.

Fred Durst must die.

Ringo must die.

The Eroica Symphony must die.

very true...but let's not forget what a shrewd ploy that s, especially for someone who has become essentially irrelevent. I don't so much blame him for trying to mine the easy gold as I know that this won't be one of my highlights of 2007, unless I continue my living in a cave existence and this is one of the few albums I run across
