Solving a ground loop.

I've had a problem with my recording setup for a while, and only recently, from a suggestion by a buddy of mine, did I realize that the problem might be a ground loop.

I was unaware of this kind of audio problem until only recently when I looked it up via google. My setup is as follows: A mixer grounded is attached via XLR into the PC which is also grounded (same power circuit). Upon connecting the two there is a buzzing which emminates, this happens even if the mixer is turned off, thus I am assuming this is a ground loop.

Before giving it a try I need some direction. Since the XLR to PC are grounded cables can I just unground the powercable of the mixer? Will the grounded XLR-PC be sufficient for the entire mixer or should I wire up another ground to substitute for the AC outlet?

Thanx for any help.
