That rhythm break in "Big Trouble" when DLR says "I'm out the window...I'm gone!" -- as good as anything they ever did with Ted Templeman behind the knobs. I like the Volvo horns in that early version of "House of Pain" as well, again if these are the same sessions. If not, and this is that double-disc session from Simmons, I encourage you to check out the Zero demo. Amazing stuff, really.

As far as the reunion, did any of y'all see them with Roth back in the day? I love VH, but they always pissed me off live. Roths' sloppy refusal to sing with the music was and will always be a turn-off. I never cared for anything Hagar did after MONTROSE, but when I saw VAN HAGAR at Monsters of Rock in the 80s, at least Hagar represented that material well. Of course, we were walking around trying to pick up girls and paying no attention to them whatsoever (not a big fan of the Hagar era) but it was a much better live performance than anything I saw with Roth, unfortunately.

Zero is the one I have. I think it's gawd awful.

So now the clowns at the HOF won't let Diamond Dave perform at his own induction with Velvet Revolver....so Diamond Dave isn't showing up.

As it stands now....only the two guys who're no longer members of the group are showing up.

At this point, there is no reason to go or even watch the thing. *

You can't make this S**T up, I tell you.

* A peon informed me that they're showing it live for the first time on VH1 Classics....who knew there was a VH1 Classics?....and sometime afterwards an edited version on VH1.

This will all be the final nail in Van Halen's asymmetrical coffin.
