Whether you feel it or not, I don't think you'll feel it was a waste of time. Also to note, the song "Mental Stamina" features Afu-Ra (for Afu-Ra fans). As far as I know, it was the first ever heard of Afu-Ra on any album.

Nice one! Have not heard but I love Premier so I think I will enjoy this.

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

Can't believe this album hasn't been posted.

With Del tha Funkee Homosapien's smooth and humorous lyrics blasting through the sci-fi sounds of DJ Kid Koala and production of Dan The Automator the sci-fi adventure or acid rap is in full force with this amazing concept album released in 2000.

The concept involves Del's alter ego "Deltron Zero" fighting the terrible corporations of 3030. The entire album revolves around the spacey theme and by far is it's strongest asset. The album in my opinion is a classic and should be in every Hip-Hop fan's collection.

I feel like I'm the only one that loves Del but isn't crazy over 3030 and thats a surprise since Kid Koala and Dan the Automator are awesome.

I think another listen is in line.

If I were you, I would give 3030 a re-listen

GZA was mentioned in the newly discovered albums thread, but I had to carry it over into this thread, as it fits the mission perfectly. It's hard to give this album credit using just words, so just check it out

GZA - Liquid Swords

Other Wu-Tang solo masterpieces:

Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

I ordered the 3 albums, favorite being first.

That's pretty criminal, since those albums are essential. And "Liquid Swords" and "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" in particular are considered by many to be among the very best hip hop albums ever. I didn't glance through the thread until just now because I was so sure someone would have mentioned those albums (as they usually are). I'm pretty sure you've praised them elsewhere though so you're off the hook.

Anyway, here are some recommendations I made in another forum for those who are just discovering hip hop:-

Quote:
1) Nas - Since he's my favourite rapper, I say you should get everything. Start with "Illmatic" and work your way forward until you have it all.

2) Wu-Tang Clan - Get "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" and keep working your way forward.

3) Raekwon - "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx".

4) GZA - "Liquid Swords".

5) Ghostface Killah - Start with "Ironman" and work your way forward.

6) Method Man - Get "Blackout!" with Redman. "Tical" and "Tical 2000: Judgement Day" are worth getting too.

7) Black Star - "Black Star". Mos Def and Talib Kweli.

8) Mos Def - "Black on Both Sides".

9) Talib Kweli - "Reflection Eternal / Train of Thought".

Of course, there are other essential albums...some of which we've covered in this thread.

I like tupac, Dr.Dre, and Eminem. To me they are probably some of the top rappers to grace this planet.

perhaps you misread, or didn't read at all, my opening post for this thread. The point is not to be another "name your favorite rappers" thread but a place to list albums you think are essential to a good hip hop collection.

I think you were thinking these:
