A true classic. Have you heard their newer stuff like you in my hut now? Songs like Booty Trap make me laugh but I guess they are kinda guilty pleasures.

One more for the weekend,

The Score

I was reminded of this last night after seeing Dave Chappelle's Block Party and it still is such a true classic. Its filled with singles that graced the radio during the later part of the 90s. The Score is smooth to the core and has bits and pieces from a varying range of musical influences. The chemistry is really terrific and well put together. Wyclef and Lauryn Hill sparked their careers here. I don't have much taste for either of them on their own but things really came together on this record.

No, I haven't.

Exact opposite with me. I know it's weird but I love LH and Wyclef solo but never went that gaga for the Fugees. I don't get it either.

I do find that weird. I mean I think both Wyclef and Lauryn have notable points in their careers, from what I've heard The Miseducation is something I'd enjoy, but I think each of their talents alone come together so nicely on The Score. Also add in Pras and The Fugees are a great outfit.

Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince- Rock the House

I don't care who laughs at me. It's not my fault he became a big movie star. That part where Ready Rock C plays the Sanford and Son theme underwater was a musical staple in my high school. The better you could imitate it the hotter the chick you screwed on prom night. And I was great at it

Some Some Kill- Schoolly D

Schoolly D has to be most forgotten really great rapper. I don't know if I agree that he invented gangsta rap but I can see where people are coming from saying that. He was one of the first, if not THE first rapper to go on about smoking people as well as weed. Personally, I consider him too unique and too much of an individual to be a true gangsta. He's more of the wild lone-wolf style hellraiser. Code Money is still one of my favorite DJ's of all time and his hypnotic space-aged style was surely a big influence on RZA. It's just fucking unbelievable that this record is way way oop and as far as I can tell his brilliant debut 'Saturday Night' wasn't even ever released on CD! And his greatest hits collection excludes a lot of the best songs and DJ work. Sad and stupid.

Nice mention of Schooly D, I agree with you completely on the description.

Say if you have ever seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force I bet you noticed they got him to do the intro song. Always makes me happy to know those guys at Adult Swim got their heads right with rappers.

I read that about that show but I've never seen it. I'll have to look at for that. BTW, I checked out that new Jungle Brothers stuff. Not bad.

Ready to Die- The Notorious BIG

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ready_to_Die

I often think of this as my favorite album of all time. If death is the ultimate subject matter of art (and I believe it is) then this is rock'n'roll's crowning achievement. Proven to be brutally honest, extremely dark and Nihilistic and it's still time to party down. Brilliant.
