Soulseek is the best, especially when it comes to selection.

I have noticed the interface is a little confusing for people at first when switching from something like Limelight.

yeah, I've found that too, but after awhile, you get use to it. FTP sites like Oink are good, but you have to deal with keeping ratios exact (seeding/leeching) and there's just way too many general rules for me to take the time to keep up with

Yes the whole ratio thing for me was tough at first, but I think its worth it for something like Oink. Besides leechfest last month bumped my ratio up to "don't worry for a really long time"

I do like the rules though since it makes the whole process so much easier. With soulseek I found I was constantly getting incomplete albums and mislabeled mp3s. Its still good but I think over the next couple of years everyone, albums traders at least, will phase into torrents.

I still think soulseek is the best because it's been under the radar for so damn long. Torrents will pop up from time to time, but they will also be shut down over time as well. My friend was getting letters from his local cable company about using bittorrent to download certain things. If that's not freaky, I don't know what is.

...but I totally know what you mean when it comes to incompletes/wrongly tagged albums. It's a hassle, but I tend to get the scene releases via people on soulseek that use Oink at the same time.

Your right on with the under the radar thing. I don't know how they do it but it really is a well kept secret. In all the articles I've ever read about p2p I've never seen its name pop up *knocks on wood*

Thats weird about the letters thing. I've heard of stuff like that happening but it always seems to be with people uploading a certain file. But yeah I completely agree, definitely something that would give you a scare.

yeah, i think it's because he was downloading movies and illegal copies of Windows XP. I can't really remember the specifics.

...yeah, soulseek started up a few years back primarily for people with the love of obscure electronic music that you couldn't find on napster, morpheus, kazaa, etc...but now it's blown up into something that's completely different than all p2ps. Sure you can find software and other things on the others, but you rarely find full length albums organized in such a way.
