Michael Brecker, R.I.P.

Last night was a tough night for Jazz.

Michael Brecker died last night. He had been battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Being of Eastern European Jewish descent made it very difficult to find a donar. So, after a lengthy and publicized search for a donar, they had to attempt an experimental partial matching stem cell transplant sometime in late 2005 or early 2006.

Besides Jazz recordings, he recorded on several well known Rock musician's recordings.

My saxophone teacher's favorite saxophonist, or probably musician, for that matter.

He's one of reasons I got into Jazz. He will be missed, but what a legacy.
