I like that tune! It seems like one long intro to a song that never really takes off.

No, I don't mean rock oriented. I wouldn't have listened to stuff like sunn0 had I not heard mellower stuff like Katatonia for example, if you get what I mean.

Enjoying Naked City now
Reminds me of Sol Niger Within in some ways.

Did you possibly mean Straight-Ahead Jazz?

I asked this question to some people in a soulseek jazz room, and I got a barrage of opinions. There were a few that were agreed upon.

One for a guitar-oriented album:
Wes Montgomery - The Incredible Jazz Guitar

One for a piano-oriented album:
Bill Evans - Waltz For Debby

One for I-don't-remember-but-it-rocks:
Art Blakey - Moanin'

I'm just a novice, so if any experts among you disapprove of these as beginners albums, let us know.

chiron, let me know if you need help obtaining them.

Considering I recommended all of those to up to a year ago....WTF?

The Blakey would be a Hard Bop recommendation.

I have no doubt that you've recommended these albums, but were they recommended specifically as good beginner albums?

If so, my fault!

Maybe I should drink more Ginseng
