How do you feel about today's Rock Music?
I personally feel that most of today's rock doesn't make a lot of sense. It's real repetitive, and lost a lot of the emotion in the music that was once present and flourished within the songs. I find it quite disapointing now a days that most of today's songs are only like 3 minutes long, and doesn't flow as well as some of the music that I've recently came accross. How do all of you feel about it?
Listened to Symphony X with The oddyssey

Yes, rock certainly does suck.
Only three minutes long? I guess you're not a fan of Chuck Berry or The Ramones.

it all depends on where you're looking.
if you're still turning to mtv to open your ears to new sounds like when you were a teenager then you get what you deserve. there's still lots of good stuff out there if you have the patience to sift through the shit, but it also depends on what you're looking for. if you want more cheeseball virtuoistic prog rock 'epics' then you might have a bit of harder time finding that in modern rock, especially if you're relying on mainstream currents to expose you to newer stuff. same as if you prefer more sensitive singer songwriter styled stuff.
basically the onus is on the individual to find their music now. anyone who wants to place the blame for their lack of new music on the genre itself are little more than passive music fans posing as active ones.

I haven't listened to MTV in a long time. It's mostly filled with crap anyways. I'm the type of person that likes those 30 min songs that just flows smoothly. And yeah, I realize that a lot of today's mainstream music doesn't include "the good stuff", and that's why I've been searching for others. However, the more I search, the more disappointed I've become. If you have any suggestions on bands that are similar to Symphony X, Blind Gaurdian, etc. then by all means, I'm open to listen to 'em. And I'm not blaming the genre itself.. I'm not even blaming the artist... I'm blaming the general public, for losing their sense for great music. Don't get me wrong, I still like to rock out to Slipknot, but I still feel that they could do a lot better.

blaming the general public for losing its sense of music? or blaming the general public for not following along with your tastes?...
best i can recommend is dream theatre and liquid tension experiment, although i figure you've most likely listened to a bunch of their stuff already. i'm sure other people will be able to hook you up with better recommendations.
the general public never had a good ear for music, all it had was a great way to generate revenue, and it still has that.

Mando Diao
That´s a good new rock band, or well, if you consider that rock is a very wide genre.

If you click into "radio" they got a bunch of those 30 seconds try-outs,, but that´s not even worth it.
Download a couple instead if you´d feel like it. (Yes, I mean illegaly...)

You could try "THE MARS VOLTA" or MUSE they are not like the bands you mentioned but they are newer rock with a bit of prog in them.

Though no longer active, and not exactly what you've stated you like in music, give Morphine a try.
