I recommend The Orb and Mice Parade.

Depends on what you want. Usually Cure for Pain is named as their best, probably because it features their best known song, i.e. the title song. But I don't like that album all that much. I'd say go for Yes if you're feeling good and sexy and The Night if you're a bit down. I feel Like Swimming is an underrated album as well. And really Good isn't bad either

I'm among the crowd that thinks Cure for Pain is their best album. It has my favourite Morphine tune, 'Head With Wings' and the equally good 'I'm Free Now'. Yes is also a very cool album, with probably 'Super Sex' as my favourite tune. The other albums have high points, but I really think they are not as good as Cure For Pain. I think you can have a good Morphine collection with Cure For Pain and Yes.

It's a shame about Mark Sandman. He had some great ideas, and it's equally shameful that not more people know about Morphine.

I don't know, that album generally doesn't quite do that much to me. Maybe because the friend who introduced them to was such a fan of The Night... "Super Sex" is great yeah, though and I also agree that Sandman's premature demise was a sad thing, uhm not that I really knew about him then, actually, guess I only got to know them after his death. But yeah, when I played their music to other people they're often not that positive. The lack of guitar or something makes their music a bit unusual, which I find nice, but apparently not everyone would agree with me there.

Have you heard Sandbox? I haven't, yet.

I was just listening to Yes, and I forgot how awesome 'Radar' is. I've gotten mixed reviews from friends I introduce Morphine to. Some generally find it interesting due to the lack of guitar; some of my buddies don't even notice there's no guitar.

I have heard Sandbox, but I don't own it. It sounds a lot like Morphine, though not as smooth, sexy, or groovy. It's an inspired collection of tunes though, but should be reserved for Morphine fans.

Have you heard Sandman's earlier band, Treat Her Right?

No I haven't, I read about them on Allmusic, I think, and it didn't struck me as particularly interesting, which could well be due to Allmusic or my current mood then...
