What? It took 'em THAT long to get Van Halen in there?!?

And doesn't Chic belong into "Disco Hall of Fame"?

Somehow I thought they'd shoehorned Van Halen in already...so that is a surprise.

I think Chic and Grandmaster Flash should get in as influences, but not as rock artists.

Van Halen may have made it in when they were first eligible if not for the soap operamatic charade that has been the band since 1996.

The name of the "Hall of Fame" is a misnomer anyway. On the current homepage there is a photo of only one artist: Aretha Franklin. Ms Franklin isn't rock n' roll - but she does rock. Miles Davis is an inductee. No rock there.
Ray Charles is an inductee. No rock for Brother Ray.
James Brown is an inductee. The Grandfather of Funk is rockless.
Robert Johnson is an inductee. The King of the Delta Blues Singers died before the musical term 'rock n' roll' even existed.
Marvin Gaye, BB King, Smokey Robinson, Jackie Wilson, Hank Williams, Lead Belly, Otis Redding, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Parliament-Funkadelic, Jelly Roll Morton, among many others would not be categorized as rock n' roll by most.

Well, I think it's high time they finally induct Dvorak...

Yeah, why not. The way the "Hall of Fame" conducts itself it may as well start inducting composers.

Antonin Leopold Dvorak - eligible since... hmm, 1896?

Back to Van Halen:

Sammy with 3 Van Halens in the group? I wonder for how long that'll work..

No one cares. The band is long dead.

I agree. The care factor for VH has hit its bottom. Even a reunion with Diamond Dave may not be able to rekindle any love for VH. I know I don't care anymore.

If they happened to release a fantastic album that might change, but looks rather unlikely at this point.
