I have some friends who live by Neumann mikes but I think they might be more into studio recording.

I know Shure's are pretty popular aswell.

As far as the guitar goes, just gotta try stuff out and see gives you the sound you want.

People who talk smack about a guitar that has been around for ages likely don't know what they are talking about. A great choice IN YOUR price range is a
G&L Tribute ASAT Classic
They are Korean made with American pickups and can be had from eBay in your price range. Put G&L Tribute asat in the search bar for guitar and you'll get a few options. Great guitars.

Yeah, Tele's are great and have a wonderful sound. My buddy is very happy with his Tele FMT. Same Tele sound with a different look.

I got my Octavia's for pretty cheap and they capture a room really well. They are also good for instrument and vocals.

Take it fvrom a guy who does this for a living: Neumann is simply the best! Not only for studio's. I'm just affraid this is fucking expensive stuff....

I have a modified Shure SH55. It has an extra screen in it (cos it's a close-miking mic) and I took out the original cell, and replaced it with a neumann cell. Only one in the world probably, but it's the goddamn best mic I ever seen from close!

For live use at your price range, Shure's SM58's probably what you're looking for. If you were willing to go for a dynamic mic, Sennheiser e935's would be worth looking into.

now i checked out both of those mikes at musicianfriend.com, and well the e935 is the more expensive choice. i was looking at the Shure SM58 aand the Sennheiser E835 and they both seemed to have really good reviews. except for one person on each mike. both of them dissed the mike and mentioned the other mike as the wayyy better choice. so now im confused. which one is better for Vocals? Live and recording.

and one more question, anyone find any of those oldstyled looking mikes(condenser mikes) for around that price range?
