Dragonforce? WTF is this?

This has got to be one of the worst bands I've ever heard! It is taking all my willpower not to turn it off right now. I figure I'll give it one full listen just in case it somehow gets better, but my hopes aren't high. Crappy music, not matter how fast you play, is still crappy music.

They sounded like the guys who wrote the theme songs to all those Japanese cartoons to me

I don't think they are completely horrid, but that singer needs to be taken out to the woodshed. All I remember about them is that they were very fast and the singer was putrid. This isn't my cup of tea, really, but for the novelty of what it is they are trying to accomplish, I'd say they pretty much nailed it.

Now that I've had time to digest the album...it's still crap. The worst part is definitely the singing. 80's power metal vocals should be left in the 80's. They do have an interesting sound. The guitars often sound like video game SFX but it wears pretty thin pretty fast. I can just picture these guys playing Legend of Zelda in between takes for inspiration.

I kind of like the music itself, but not the vocals. They actually have a fairly big following. My friend is in love with them. I think they were at ozzfest this year, but I don't know. I don't really pay too much attention.

My neighbor's really into technical artists and bands, some of whom I don't mind at all - having grown up in that era, there was a time when being able to play a guitar in a showy manner was not necessarily in and of itself an indictment - and some I just hate because they have too little substance and the songs are weak. These guys really are right in the middle to me, just a few rungs below Buckethead, who was an incredible disappointment to me live.

Dragonforce are too fast for me to not say "wow these guys are fast" even though the songs don't do anything for me. They just go by and I say "wow these guys are fast." The truth is, most of the stuff really does sound like early Nintendo...either Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden. Not long ago I was listening to some Tony Macalpine, and I found myself cracking a whip

Honestly, I think their only problem is repeating themselves. They have rehashed too many songs. I enjoyed their second album but Inhuman Rampage bored me for the most part.

Are they that bad? My friend say that if I like Sonata Arctica I would like dragonforce. Never listened to any dragonforce before so can any of you suggest a good song from them?

I wouldn't just assume if you like one you'll like the other. I personally like Sonata Artica but Dragonforce isn't something I'd have on my everyday playlist.

The stuff people say about them repeating themselves and stuff is correct, I like it sometimes though.

One of the songs my friend really likes is Dragonforce - valley of the damned.
