Ok, I admit I know what your talking about. Compared to a band like Necrophagist, technically and in their overall sound, Dragonforce is good but is also totally different. I think you have to look past the connection between metal and death metal, or between metal and black metal. Dragonforce is epicness without the black metal aspects, but i guess its just a personal preference, does your metal need to remind you of people dying? Thats tight but honestly 80s metal is really fucking good too and Dragonforce might as well be the best 80s metal ever.

A better question would have been in regards to the 80's Metal portion.

I don't need metal to remind me of people dying. I have the news for that. I'm not a Necrophagist fan either, and this actually goes quite far and beyond "the connection between metal and death metal," as you have put it. I'm not too sure you even get my point here.

at least the 80s 'metal' had the valid excuse of being way too fucked on blow to know just how bad they were sucking.

Hey, Metallica is 80s metal!

This lady friend and I were drinking in a bar when all of a sudden "...and Justice For All" comes on the jukebox.

I notice all women in the place have sat down and are looking rather bored/frustrated.

I said to the waitress: "Ma'am, do you see the poor guys in here trying to get laid? I love Metallica, but you are KILLING their chances. Please put something else on. For God's sake!"

Find it So Grim

So Reeyeal-ouah!

It's a joke. It's tongue-in-cheek, man.

they could just put on anything after that album and the women would have been fine. Or perhaps some Warrant

There's a bar way up in Michigan, so far northwest that most of its patrons are fucking Packers fans. Their jukebox was a country jukebox, except for 3 CD's: Changesbowie, Police's Singles compilation, and Metallica's And Justice For All. About 15 years ago we went in there and I put on a few Bowie cuts while the girl we were with put on "Dyer's Eve"...7 times in a row.

They unplugged the jukebox on the 3rd runthrough, gave her a dollar, and told us to finish our beers and go somewhere else.

I got no problem with 80's metal, myself, or bands that are called that. I'll put the best 80's metal/thrash albums up against the best metal/thrash albums since then. And honestly...I am really not sure how much worse Poison really was than say, Linkin Park is now.

Dragonforce would have been every bit a joke back then as they are now, with the difference being that we weren't yet jaded on shredding yet.
