If you haven't picked it up already, I highly recommend this box set.

The Genius of the Electric Guitar

It contains all his studio recordings he participated in the less than 3 years he recorded before dying from TB.

Just make sure when you open it that it's right side up. It's a terribly designed package. I would also recommend taking the CDs out and storing them someplace else.

I'm definitely intending to get it as soon as I can get some money together.

Thanks for the advice on opening it! Box sets are often designed incredibly badly, I find. My Bitches Brew Sessions box allowed one of the discs to slip between the metal casing, causing me to scratch the disc badly the first time I pulled it out. I already had the tracks which were affected on another disc, so I didn't bother taking it back to the shop.

You're welcome. You will see why you have to open it right side up when you open it.

However, no box set comes close to the Bill Evans box set that Verve released. The one and only box set you have to make sure your Tetanus shot is up to date.

Here is a previous Satchmo bedtime story. It's toward the bottom.

My Bitches Brew box is also rusting. Horrendous design.

A set of CDs, a booklet and a box to put them in - how hard can it be?

Interesting stuff. I appreciated the A Love Supreme details too.

I'm now off to learn as many Charlie Christian licks as I can.

Leszek Możdżer, Lars Danielsson & Zohar Fresco 'Between Us and the Light'

this could probably go in the World section too, but I feel it's more suitable here.

Pleasant surprise

I'll get on that myself.

A few of the horde and I were at that. The day before that he played with Fred Firth, which was also released. After the performance with Firth he ran into the members of Wolf Eyes at a hotel and they all passed the dutchie on the left hand side together....they next day they asked him to perform with them.

Lighting up with Anthony Braxton...that must be considered a high-water career mark amongst the members of Wolf Eyes.
