Herbie Nichols - The Complete Blue Note Recordings


An excellent composer and piano player. He was even more obscure in the 40's than DA MONK....and like DA MONK he had his own oft-kilter composing and playing style. He would use things like unsual chord progressions or lengths of choruses. Like DA MONK the chord changes had their own original brand of logic.


It's only recently he has been rediscovered and even then by the die hard Jazz fans.


The one composition he is known by, although, most wouldn't know he wrote it would be Lady Sings the Blues.



Unfortunately, this set is out of print. So, if you can find a used copy for a good price....you won't be disappointed.
