There isn't anything in relation to Pres in the film. Even the Bud Powell portion leaves out what lead to his becoming a drug addict.
It does have many resemblance to Long Tall's life, however. Like Bud and many other Jazz musicians, he did live in Europe for 15 years. Mostly in Paris and Copenhagen and he did have his own drug habit.
By the way, he has a small part in Awakenings. He died shortly after filming it. You can see how ill he was, at the time.
