McCoy Tyner - Live in Tokyo, December 1972 (bootleg)
Oh God, it's been way way too long since I did some serious McCoy listening. So good at piano, it's bringing tears to my eyes.

That's a wicked Tim Berne release, the 'sax orchestra' is a neat thing to hear. Have you heard the new David Torn release 'Prezens'? The clips remind me of the track he did on Big Satan's 'Souls Saved Hear' (Plaintain Surgery) but I haven't checked it out yet.
Billie Holiday, Stormy Weather (2CD). Some shitty compilation I picked up cheaply. I also have Lady in Satin, yet I find it rather unimpressive. On rateyourmusic there are people saying that's because of the lesser quality of the cd in comparison to the vinyl; because the vocals are less in front of the mix. And because Ray Ellis's accompanying music is too schmalzy. Especially on the second, I guess they have a point. Anyway, I have heard other things of her which did seem appealing. But this compilation won't show me her true greatness either, probably. Might have to check out Lady Sings the Blues and/or a more professional compilation...
