"Tomorrow Never Knows" by Steve Marcus
One of the finest combinations of jazz and psychedelia...
(yeah, I know, I am always into psychedelia, but that really is my favorite music... Whether it is simple, complex, loud, soft and everything in between... I dig psychedelic music... Although, I have to admit that some of the more "freak-out" experimental sound collage styles are a bit out of my taste range... I usually need some sort of melody)...

At the moment....going down memory lane with one of those I was able to see performed in person.
Cecil Taylor - The Tree of Life
P.S. This is one of Cecil's best solo recordings!
YO!

Did I read correctly in another thread that Taylor had been a past winner of the big cash MacArthur fund grant?? If so at least at the end of his career he is able to get some financial satisfaction (I am sure he has been able to realize the praise he has received for his art in terms of personal satisfaction... I hope)... There is no denying though that listening to his "music" takes patience...

Bud Powell - Bud Plays Bird
Amazingly, these recordings from 1957 and 1958 were not released until 1996!
It's one of Bud's best recordings.
YO!

Toshiko Akiyoshi / Lew Tabackin Big Band - Kogun.
One of their best. An always interesting modern classic big band. Akiyoshi and Tabackin together in any size grouping is worth a listen. Kogun is only available as a Japanese import on CD.
Charles LLoyd - Sangam. (ECM)
A live, in concert, trio setting. Lloyd leads the date on sax and flute, some keyboards etc. The element that takes this date up a notch is the combination of Eric Harland on trap drums and Zakir Hussain(!) on tablas. Beat me daddy, eight to the bar! All compositions by Lloyd except one by Hussain.
