as a huge fan of punk, and surfing, can anyone tell me of some sweet ass surf punk style music?

im talking the "agent orange" style, im talking the "surfin bird" ramones style... i know for the most part im going to get punk covers of surf music... but maybe i should actually try to open my mind and look into the old style... off topic now... ok so whats out there that would float my boat made of surf punk cravings?

I dont know of any modern surf punk. Although, there are select songs by the pixies that i would consiter to be surf rock/punk. Also, alot of the guitar in Op Ivy is heavly influenced by that style. If there are, however any new surf punk bands out there, I would most defanently be interested in hearing it.

1. I don't think so.

2. Why wouldn't anyone believe it? Hell, like a great many bands/musicians....I saw them before they even recorded anything....the benefits of being 103.

check out

man... or astroman?
heuvos rancheros

they're more straight up instrumental surf but there's still a lot of punk rock sensibilities in the way they play their instruments. it could easily be argued that surf pioneers like dick dale, the surfaris, or the ventures heavily influence punk and metal styles with the percussive way they'd approach the guitar. i know scott ian of anthrax has flat out said playing 'pipeline' by the ventures early on helped him develop his picking technique for playing metal.
