Drugs & Music
What drug (including alcohol) do you think has had the most influence on 20th C music?
Music most influenced by which drug is your favorite?
From a listener's perspective, what drugs go best with what music?

Drugs have always been prevelant in musicians' circles, in part because studies show that the more creative people also tend to have addictivce personalities. I don't have a problem with people doing drugs, really; in fact I just smoked a bowl last weekend.
But if you don't have anything going in the first place, drugs aren't going to help you much. For the occasions where being high (on any of the drugs I have done) actually led to a creative stretch, there are 10 or more times where it was an inhibitor.
So I think the real influence may be on the music scene, and not the music.

Legendary Pink Dots

MMW never struck me as LSD inspired music. Not that I'm disagreeing with you, maybe there's something about their sound that I've overlooked. I know they're considered a 'jam band' but still it's not like it's all set up for dosing like drums/space, is it?

Across the board in the entire 20th Century? Caffeine, I would say! Think of how many great musical movements had their birth in coffee houses!

Oh I don't know if the music is set-up for a trip but I know they wrote their earlier albums all ripped on acid.

That makes me think of Stravinsky but even there I'm not really sure. Can you give me some examples?

Interesting. Can you link to anything to verify that?
For which question(s)?
