Given the large number of members here who are into the high quality metal acts that take a little more to access than just flipping onto MTV's idea of what metal is now, I'm very suprised not to have found a thread about the new Intronaut album, or even the band themselves.
Prehistoricisims is one of the most awesome, innovative, and interesting albums I've heard for a while in metal. I cant recommend it highly enough. For anyone who may not have heard them, think along the lines of Mastodon, with Mars Volta's penchant for encapsulating tangents, and Isis' understanding of clean aqeuous passages.... and a bassplayer who has an acute understanding of jazz.
I also havent seen anything on Mouth Of The Architect yet, though I havent looked too hard. MOTA deliver some of the most immersive sludge/doom since Jesu's selftitled. Kind of like a super excellent Cult Of Luna, but with the monolithic emotional power of say, Battle Of Mice...
A band where you cant help but sit stunned thinking "holy fffuck." at the sheer enormity of it.
