OMG. Never has an album so surprised me by its casual brilliance. I mean, this is supposed to be made instrumental jams from Cave In jam sessions around the time Jupiter came out(at least that is what the reviews say). And yet it is somehow far better than anything that band has ever done. It does share some similarities with Red Sparowes' songs, but also has far more variety and is much more focused.
The scary intensity of Guitarmageddon, the relaxed flow of God is on the Telephone, the brooding Head Extensions, Brain Candle Waltz which does what Friends of Dean Martinez only dream of doing... each of the songs are memorable in its own way; something which an instrumental album(negligible vocals
) rarely does to me.It is a crime that this album hasn't yet gotten the cult status it so sorely deserves.
Full marks!!!!
Standouts: God is on the Telephone
Score: 10/10
